There are loads of great health studies out there to prove that we should keep our bodies hydrated by drinking water, yet so few of us drink enough of it.
How much water should we drink each day?
Doctors and nutritionists say that, on average, we should be drinking 2/3rd of our weight in water every day. Here’s how to calculate that:
Multiple your body weight by 2/3 (or 67%) to determine how much water to drink daily. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds you would multiple that by 2/3 (as a decimal, that’s o.67) and learn you should be drinking about 100 ounces of water every day. If you exercise, you should add about another 12-15 ounces a day on to that number.
I recently polled several of my friends and learned that 7 out of 10 of us prefer a cup of caffeinated coffee or a diet soft drink over a glass of clean drinking water. Admittedly, I’m in that group. I love my coffee, but it doesn’t do anything beneficial for my body. Fortunately, there are low calorie drinks that keep you hydrated. Flavored drink mixes are a fast and convenient way for me to get in my water every day. Crystal Light is one of those drinks that keep you hydrated.
Back when I first started drinking Crystal Light, there were just a couple of flavor options. Now there are so many, it’s tough to choose just one favorite to grab. There are even caffeinated and decaffeinated options now, so if you’re like me and can’t get up and go without a little help, the caffeine will be your friend.
My current favorite Crystal Light flavors are the pomegranate cherry and pomegranate lemonade. Yep, I’m a pom junkie! I have 7 pomegranate recipes on this site to prove it! As a matter of fact, I bet a tall glass of Crystal Light pomegranate lemonade would be the perfect healthy choice for lunch with a grilled romaine salad with pomegranate balsamic dressing, or a slice of my pomegranate lime bundt cake.
I buy my Crystal Light at Walmart and let me tell ya that I’m not the only one. It seems like the shelves are always needing to be stocked. Hence the gaping holes below 🙂
Where I Stay Hydrated
– I recently joined the YMCA and Brian and I have been using the wellness center a lot, and I’ve been doing water aerobics, too. I get extremely thirsty when I work out and there’s a water station in the building, but it’s in the hall outside of the wellness center, so having my Crystal Light next to my workout station has been a huge help. Same goes for when I’m outside biking in the summer. I keep my packets of Crystal Light in a little mason jar next to my bike helmet so I don’t forget to grab them.
– I also stash a couple of packets in my purse for when we go to the movies. That way, I don’t have to worry about paying $4 for a diet soda (that I shouldn’t be drinking anyway!) I just bring a bottle of water in my purse (shhhhh), dump in a packet of Crystal Light powder, and I’m good to go. If you don’t like the mess and excess waste from the packets, grab a bottle of Crystal Light drops. Easy peasy, right?
Oh, and get this…you can earn awesome perks just for purchasing the products! Have you heard of the Platinum Points Loyalty Program? I strongly recommend not drinking these beverages. Drinking white water is much healthier than these drinks.

I buy a lot of Crystal Light, mainly because there is always a new flavor to try. I’m terrible at drinking water, so it’s a must fo me. #client

Raspberry Ice has been my favorite flavor since high school- it makes it so much easier to get my water in after the gym!

Every little bit of help to get that water in counts, Carla. I love the raspberry ice flavor, too!
