Thanksgiving dinner is only 3 weeks away! Whether you’ll be preparing Thanksgiving dinner for 2 people or 22, here are my tips on preparing a perfect Thanksgiving dinner, plus a delicious Thanksgiving dinner menu plan!
Are you hosting Thanksgiving dinner at your house and not sure where to start? No worries – getting ready for the perfect Thanksgiving dinner is easy with my tips and these holiday recipes.
Preparing a Perfect Thanksgiving Dinner:
Create Your Guest List
Think about how many people you can accommodate in your home. Are you planning to serve a sit-down or will you have a buffet potluck dinner? Don’t feel pressured to create formal invitations for your dinner; simply call, text, or email your friends and family. Try to get the most accurate head count so you can plan your menu accordingly.
Plan Your Menu
Start with your favorite turkey recipe and then plan all the side dishes that you want to serve. Don’t forget the perfect mashed potatoes and gravy (unless you enjoy a good Thanksgiving family fight). 😉
As you’re planning, think about some of your family favorite recipes. You can also use my Thanksgiving Menu Planning Guide to help you plan the perfect menu that will impress everyone.
Create a Shopping List
First, start by reviewing each recipe to decide how much of each dish you are going to need. If you have decided to do potluck style, assign dishes to each our your guests according to the menu you have planned. Now you can, create a shopping list of all the ingredients you’re going to need and compare it against the items you may already have in your pantry. I find it easier to create the list by using the Shopping Menu Planning Guide so I do not forget any important ingredients.
