Warm bacon cheddar dip is the cheesy good snack dip that will be the hit of your game day parties! It takes 5 minutes to make, and everyone loves it, so there won’t be any leftovers.
Disclosure: I created this recipe for warm bacon cheddar dip for the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community and its advertiser. I received compensation for this post, but all thoughts and words are my own.
Do you remember the Chili Cheese Corn Dog Casserole post from last month? Brian loves them, and according to my Pinterest boards, everyone on the Internet likes it, too. It is one of my most popular pins right now.
That recipe uses yummi, bite sized, Country Ribbon mini corn dogs. Well, when I went back to Sam’s Club last week, the corn dogs on a stick were staring at me.
Seriously! I saw the bright red box out of the corner of my eye, and then the box started calling my name. Maybe I need serious therapy, because when food talks to me, I listen, and I knew they’d be perfect for Sunday football games. Apparently, I am also an impulsive shopper.
Wanting to make something hot, cheesy and easy to dip them in was my immediate goal.
That’s where today’s recipe for warm bacon cheddar dip came perfectly into play.
This dip has the perfect ratio of cheese to bacon, plus a kick of flavor and color from yellow mustard and green onions. You know that yellow mustard is a required corn dog topping, don’t you?
I make the dip in a sauce pan on the stove top, and it takes just 5 minutes. But if you’re having a party and want a big batch, this could easily be made in a slow cooker, too. Just put all of the ingredients into the crock except for the bacon and scallions. Let it come together on low heat for an hour or so, then stir in the bacon and scallions before serving.
If you want to keep your waistline thin, consider using lower fat cheeses and low fat milk. Or you can make it “fully loaded” and just suit up in a pair of your favorite stretchy pants.
I splurge on football game days, so the recipe shown below is the full fat version. So there’s no confusion: loaded with fat = loaded with flavor. I just use a little more willpower than normal to keep my fingers out of the pot as I make it.
Here’s the easy, cheesy, warm bacon cheddar dip recipe.

This dip would be perfect for the holidays, game day or ANY day! I can’t wait to try it!
Nora says
My kids are obsessed with cheesy dips, going to make this for our NYE appetizer spread! They don’t eat scallions though (they think cinnamon is too spicy, so…) – any idea for a substitute? Would some chopped green pepper work?
Bec says
Hi Nora!
One of my favorite things about this bacon cheddar dip is its versatility. You can definitely leave out the scallions. Green or red bell peppers would definitely work, and the punch of color would be perfect! Another idea would be to add a tiny bit (maybe 1/4 teaspoon to start) of smoked paprika. The flavor and color would compliment the cheese.
Courtney says
This sounds delicious! I was wondering if this would be good reheated? Our parties always last a long time and halfway through all of our dips usually need a reheat. Thanks again for the recipe! Can’t wait to try it out 🙂
Chef Becca says
Courtney, to be truthful, this dip never lasts more than a couple of hours at the parties I’ve taken it to, but I’ve kept it heated in a slow cooker set to low, which works really well. If you need to reheat it and it looks to be pretty thick, stir in a tiny bit of milk to thin it out a bit before you reheat it. Enjoy!

Ummm…how have we been friends this long and you’ve never told me about this bacon cheese dip? I seriously might have to ask for my friend card back. Actually, no, just send me some of this cheese dip (and corndogs, of course) and I’ll just forget that you never told me about this deliciousness! Seriously, though, two thumbs up here!
Chef Becca says
Don’t you dare take away my friend card, Mr. “Guy who didn’t tell me that his favorite football team ISN’T the Jets” I think we just need to sit in front of a pot full of this bacon cheese dip and make our friendship even stronger 🙂
Courtney says
Thank you! It sounds like it won’t last long enough to need a reheat but I just wanted to be extra careful. I’m sure we will enjoy!
Bernadette says
I’ll just eat the dip with a spoon, or my fingers, whatever 🙂
Chef Becca says
As long as you wash your hands first, you just go right ahead and dip those fingers 🙂
Ann from Sumptuous Spoonfuls says
The dip looks wonderful … but I’ll skip the corndogs!
Becca Heflin says
They’re definitely not for everyone, Ann, but I appreciate you stopping by to drool over the dip! 🙂
